Hand-drawn comic illustrating the “AI sameness trap”, showing how AI-generated visuals are becoming increasingly uniform, leading to reduced attention, weaker brand differentiation, and a shift back toward intentional human-led design and storytelling in marketing.

Why your next big project might get ignored in a world where everything starts to look the same.
AI has made creating visuals faster than ever, but it has also flattened differentiation. When outputs feel generic, audiences stop noticing.
This short comic explores the “AI sameness trap” and what it means for brands trying to stay visible, intentional, and valuable.

AI tools have reached a tipping point where the cost of creation has dropped to near zero, but the cost of invisibility has skyrocketed.

Why your next big project will be ignored because of the AI Sameness Trap.

I drew a short hand-drawn comic about how AI tools are flattening visual differentiation. It is a blunt look at a practical problem for senior marketers: When everything looks the same, how do you keep a brand visible and valuable?

This “AI sameness” creates a few critical issues for commercial craft:

• Diminishing Returns on Attention: Consumers are rapidly developing a cognitive bias against the “uncanny valley” of generated assets. If it looks generated, it is often ignored.

• The Erosion of Strategic Intent: Every pixel in a bespoke brand asset used to be an intentional choice. AI generated output often lacks the subtext required for long-term brand building.

• Subconscious Devaluation: If a visual feels like a low effort output, the consumer subconsciously attaches that lack of effort to the product or service itself.

The challenge is no longer about finding “efficiencies” through AI. In a world of generic, high-speed output, bespoke human-first craft is the only remaining antidote to brand invisibility.

I have put the link to the full comic post and analysis in the first comment below.

How are you balancing the speed of generative tools with the commercial necessity of staying distinct?
