Video Strategy & Blueprint

Video Strategy & Blueprint

A paid pre-production planning service that sits between an initial inquiry and full animation production.

The Video Strategy & Blueprint formalises the planning phase that often happens before a quote is finalised. It exists to provide clarity, reduce risk, and ensure that production decisions are based on a shared and realistic understanding of scope, cost, and direction.

How This Fits Into the Process

Sundstedt Animation’s process typically begins with a free introductory conversation, where basic project details are discussed. In many cases, that is sufficient to provide a production quote.

However, when a project is still forming, strategically important, or involves uncertainty around scope, budget, or internal alignment, a more structured planning phase can be useful.

The Video Strategy & Blueprint is that phase.

It takes place before animation begins and, when appropriate, before a final production quote is issued.

When a Blueprint Makes Sense

This service is useful when:

  • The idea or message is still evolving
  • The scope, length, or complexity is uncertain
  • Budget needs to be validated before approval
  • Multiple approaches are being considered
  • You want a clearer basis for decision-making before committing to production

If you already have a clear script, defined scope, and confirmed budget, a blueprint may not be necessary.

What This Is

The Video Strategy & Blueprint is a written planning document that translates your message into a realistic animation plan.

It is based on your brief, script, or written description of what the video needs to communicate. A simple stick-figure storyboard or reference material is welcome if available, but not required.

This service focuses on structure, feasibility, and production planning. It does not include creative design or animation work.

What You Get

  • Clarified project goals and intended audience
  • Recommended video format and overall approach
  • Length and complexity assessment
  • Text-based scene breakdown
A written, scene-by-scene description of what the video would cover, without visual storyboard creation
  • Key production considerations and trade-offs
  • Indicative production timeline
  • Budget range and primary cost drivers
  • Clear next-step options

What This Does Not Include

  • Scriptwriting or narrative development
  • Visual storyboard illustration
  • Design, animation, or asset production

How It Works

  1. Initial contact via email or introductory chat
  2. Joint decision on whether a blueprint is appropriate
  3. You provide a brief, script, or written description
  4. Clarifying questions handled by email
  5. Blueprint delivered as a written document within 1 to 2 working days

Pricing and Credit

The Video Strategy & Blueprint is priced at £850.

If you later commission Sundstedt Animation for the animation project, £300 of the blueprint fee is credited toward the production cost.

The blueprint is a standalone professional deliverable regardless of whether production proceeds.

Why This Exists

Most issues in animation projects originate before production begins.

This service exists to make assumptions explicit, surface constraints early, and create a reliable foundation for production decisions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Video Strategy & Blueprint to get a quote?

No. If you already have a clear brief, script, scope, timeframe, and budget range, a production quote can often be provided without a blueprint.

The blueprint is recommended when clarity is missing or when decisions need to be validated before committing to production.

Do you write the script as part of the blueprint?

No. Scriptwriting is not included.

The blueprint works with your existing script, notes, or written description and identifies any gaps that need resolving before production.

What if we don’t have a finished script?

A finished script is not required.

The blueprint can be created from rough drafts, key messages, or internal notes, as long as the intended message is understood.

Is the blueprint a standalone deliverable?

Yes. The blueprint is a professional planning document and remains usable regardless of how the project proceeds.

Most clients use it as the foundation for production with Sundstedt Animation, in which case part of the fee is credited toward the production cost.

How long does it take?

Most blueprints are delivered within 1 to 2 working days once the necessary information has been received.
