red-eye-sundstedtHow do you use the Red Eye tool in Photoshop?

This one-click tool darkens the pupil and retains the tonality and texture of the eye. The Red Eye tool works only with RGB or Lab color images.

To use the red-eye tool, using the default settings, click the red portion of the eye in your image. If all goes well, your image is now cured of the red-eye.

Alternatively, select the red-eye tool and click-drag on the image to draw a box around the red eye. You may need to click-drag a couple times to get the entire eye desaturated.

The Red Eye Tool applies desaturation to the center portion of the area you click-drag to create.

If you’re not happy with the results, tweak one or both of the following options:

  • Pupil Size: Use the slider to increase or decrease the size of the pupil
  • Darken Pupil: Use the slider to darken or lighten the color of the pupil.

If you’re still not getting the results you want, there are manual methods of red eye correction you can try [Not covered here].
