I spent a lot of time trying to get a cross over cable LAN between Windows 7 Pro PC and Windows XP Pro PC. (Using your old XP PC for things like network rendering or web server, media centre etc.) To save you from researching this and as a friendly help I have done the work for you! Here are all the different settings you need to setup this. Follow this and you are done! Remember to share some folders as a test. I recommend settings all this up as Administrator, but you can later for example remote connect the XP machine without being an Admin on the Win 7 PC.

If you appreciate this visual guide then please remember to hire me next time you need an experienced 3D or Motion Graphics Freelancer CG Artist.
