Next step, the creation of a concept image:

Based on the concept image, and some feedback on it (like to have more lava and less grass), the actual image was created using multiple renders: lava render layers, grass, rocks, trees and other layers, then composited and edited, plus a lot of retouch and painting work to finish of the final image:
